“My favorite thing about my position is getting to introduce this area to someone for the very first time.” Nathan Abbott
I am proud to say I’m a native of the Emerald Coast. I was born in Fort Walton. I went to Meigs Middle School and Choctawhatchee High School. Growing up here there was not much in Destin at all. My grandfather (William W. Abbott Sr) started one of the first real estate companies back in the late 60s. My father and uncle join forces and started Abbott Realty Services in the early 70s. They were the largest employer in Northwest Florida at that time.
It was through that grind and grit that I got the experience that showed me what creating a successful business was about. What I learned from them the most is that they treated people right. They had an honorable brand. They had integrity. They showed up. That’s really what I have been inspired by through my own company. We want to have an awesome experience for our customers. And we also want to have a lot of fun in the process.
One of the things that my wife and I love is the opportunity to share this lifestyle with our children. They are truly water babies. From two months old we had them in swim lessons. They love the beach. They love the different things to do here.
I met someone at a Commissions Inc mastermind for the very first time. He shared with me that his family was traveling the country to try to find their new home and wanted to be in a beach destination. They were from the Jersey Shore area. He immediately saw the passion for my area. Not because I was trying to sell him a property, but because my passion for this area is real. He came back two months later with his family. They completely fell in love with this area like I knew they would. And now they are full-time residents of this area within six months of us meeting each other.
We have really worked hard to create a fun-loving environment where our customers feel like, and they are, part of our extended real estate family.
You’ve for the bay on one side and the Gulf on the other. So, you’re really surrounded by water, but we have one of the highest elevated areas anywhere on the Gulf coast, which brings a lot of protection to our area.
We have people from all walks of life and all different areas. We’re starting to see new cultures coming into the area. I feel like this area will be a melting pot of people trying to get away from the hustle and bustle and live this coastal lifestyle in a place that we’re fortunate enough to call home. It’s a simple life. It’s the laid-back life that they call the “salt life.” Our area offers that everywhere you look.
